Hola a todos! Mi nombre es Martín Tamburelli y soy de Buenos Aires, Argentina. Empecé este proyecto por "culpa" de mi sobrino quien en ese momento tenía 4 años y es uno de los fanáticos más jóvenes que conozco. Él conoce todos los detalles y personajes de las películas y es quien me está enseñando cada día todo sobre la saga que vi cuando yo era chico.
Tal vez suene un poco ofensivo para los fanáticos pero no soy un gran fan de SW, no vi todas las películas ni conozco todos los personajes. Cuando era chico siempre soñé con tener un robot y como me gustaba R2D2 deseaba que fuera ese. Sin embargo siempre me gustó la primera película original Star Wars al igual que Darth Vader.
Después de 2 años y medio construyendo el robot desde cero finalmente lo presenté en sociedad, primero a mi familia (ellos no sabían nada de este proyecto para darle una sorpresa a mi sobrino) Comencé el proyecto en Marzo de 2011 y lo terminé en Julio de 2013. Sin embargo la construcción continúa, agregando más accesorios y mejorando el armado y configuración.
La idea original era regalarle la réplica de R2D2 a mi sobrino, pero luego de recolectar toda la información para construirlo, de leer mucho sobre la construcción y qué hacer con él una vez finalizado, me di cuenta que el objetivo iba cambiando para lo que es hoy: la principal misión de AR2D2 es la caridad y eventos especiales, es llevarle y darle alegría a los chicos.
Debo reconocer que no soy ingeniero, ni sabía nada de electrónica o mecánica y lo más cercano que había construido fue un castillo de arena. Pero me gustan mucho los desafíos, si hay algo que no lo sé me gusta empezarlo, entenderlo, hacerlo y terminarlo.
Esto lo hice como un hobby y pasatiempo y lo disfruto mucho. Espero que les guste.

Hi everybody! My name is Martín and I'm from Buenos Aires, Argentina. I've started this project because of my nephew who is 4 years old and he's the youngest fanatic of Star Wars that I met. He knows every details of all SW movies and he's teaching me everything that I saw long time ago when I was young.
It will sound annoying but I'm not fan of SW, neither saw all the movies nor know all the character. But I know that my favourite was R2D2. When I was young I always dreamed to have a droid, even better if it was this one! However I liked very much the very first movie Star WarDs and Darth Vader.
After 2 years and a half scratch building this droid finally I presented it to my family (they didn't know anything about this project as I wanted to give my nephew a big surprise) I started this project in March 2011 and finished in July 2013. However building continues, adding more gadgets and improving the set up.
The original idea was to give my nephew R2D2 as a present, but as I started to collect all the information about blueprints and reading and reading about how to built an R2D2 and what would do with it once finished, I realised that the original idea was changing the direction to the current mission: If I'd take it out it will be for charity and special events. His main mission is to give kids happiness.
I must say that I'm not engineer, have no idea in electronics nor mechanics and the closest thing I built was a sand castle! But I like every kind of challenge, the less I know about a thing the better to start and finish it.
I did this as a hobby and I'm enjoying every day.
